What is beeswax?
Beeswax is produced naturally by honeybees, which use the wax to build the honeycombs in the beehive. Once the wax is cleaned and processed, it can be used for things like making candles and more.
Beeswax candles are simply candles where the wax itself consists of beeswax rather than, for example, paraffin or stearin.
Natural beeswax typically has a golden to yellow color and a mild, characteristic scent. The color can vary slightly because beeswax is a natural product.
That is precisely part of the charm: beeswax candles do not need to be completely identical to be beautiful.
Beeswax candles in various shapes
Beeswax definitely doesn't just have to be for classic long candles. In our selection, you will find several different types of beeswax candles for various occasions:
- Table candles in beeswax for candle holders and the dinner table
- Pillar candles in beeswax for larger holders and decorations
- Beeswax tea lights for small glass holders and cozy lighting
- Beeswax calendar candles for December
- Hand-dipped Christmas tree candles in beeswax
- Taper candles in pure beeswax
- Beeswax sheets for those who want to make their own candles
This way, you can use the same natural material for everyday life, dinner parties, and Christmas.

Beeswax tea lights
Beeswax tealightsBeeswax tealights are an easy way to bring the warm light of beeswax into your home.
The small candles are perfect for both table settings and small candle holders, where several tealights together can create a cozy atmosphere. We offer both tealights with glass holders and refill candles, so the glasses can be reused.
This allows you to keep the holders and simply refill them with new beeswax candles when the old ones have burned down. -
Beeswax calendar candles and Christmas candles
Advent candleBeeswax is particularly well-suited for the Christmas season. The warm golden color and natural scent provide a different look compared to plain white calendar and Christmas candles.
In the range, you will find, among other things, beeswax calendar candles, both as classic calendar candles and pillar candles, as well as hand-dipped Christmas tree candles.
This makes it possible to use beeswax throughout December – from the first day with the calendar candle to the candles on the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. -
Make your own beeswax candles
Roll-your-own candlesIf you would like to try making candles yourself, beeswax sheets are a simple way to get started. With our beeswax candle DIY kit, the beeswax sheets can be rolled around a wick and shaped into finished table candles. It does not require melting the wax first, making it a cozy activity where you can quickly see the results.
The finished candles retain the beeswax's natural texture, color, and scent, and because they are rolled by hand, they also gain a more personal touch. It can be a cozy activity during the winter months or a unique way to make your own candles for the home.
Beeswax or traditional candles?
Beeswax and stearin are two different materials, even though finished candles may look similar at first glance.
Beeswax is a natural material produced by bees, while stearin is made from fatty acids from vegetable or animal fats. Paraffin, which is also widely used for candles, is typically produced from mineral oil.
Beeswax is often chosen because of the material's natural origin, golden color, and characteristic mild scent.
If you are looking for beeswax candles, it is therefore worth noting that a candle made of 100% beeswax does not actually contain stearin.
Candles from Danish BISTAD
Our beeswax candles come from BISTAD, who work with more than just the production of candles.
BISTAD is a Danish social enterprise that works with bees and beeswax while simultaneously creating work communities for people in vulnerable positions.
This means that you not only get a candle made of pure beeswax, but also a product with a story and people behind it.

Why is my beeswax white on the surface?
The white layer is completely natural and is often called bloom. It occurs over time on pure beeswax and has no impact on the quality or burn time of the candle. In fact, it is a natural hallmark of genuine beeswax.
If you want the golden, shinier surface back, you can gently warm the candle with your hands and polish it with a soft cloth.
